SMIIC Secretary General and his accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to the National Standardization Agency of Indonesia (BSN) headquarters on 06 April 2015. 

During the fruitful meeting, latest developments of SMIIC and BSN's support for SMIIC activities in harmonizing halal standards for the benefit of Ummah were discussed.  

Mr. Bambang Prasetya, Director General of BSN gave a presentation including main tasks, functions and institutional structures of BSN and the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), the system of national standardization and conformity assessment, as well as national accreditation system laboratories and inspection bodies. 

SMIIC Secretary General shared the latest developments and objectives of SMIIC by underscoring the importance of having a harmonized standards system under SMIIC and it was followed by a brief presentation introducing SMIIC. 

Upon the declaration of BSN to become a member of SMIIC, esteemed BSN has been informed of the necessary procedures. Once the internal requirements of Indonesia are finalized for SMIIC Membership, Indonesia will become a member of SMIIC upon the approval of the Board of Directors.
