H.E Ms. Naffie BARRY, Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Trade Industry Regional Integration Employment, Republic of Gambia paid a visit to the SMIIC headquarters on 26 August 2015.  The meeting was also attended by Mr. Papa SECKA, DG of the Gambia Standards Bureau (TGSB), Mr. Bai Dodou JALLOW, Standardization Expert, and Ms. Mame Sine MBODJI, Head of Agriculture Department of Association Sénégalaise de Normalisation (ASN).

Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT, Secretary General of SMIIC, welcomed the joint delegation of Gambia and Senegal and expressed his thanks for the visit, noting that this visit would be an important opportunity towards enhancing the current level of cooperation in better identifying the infrastructure needs of its esteemed Member States.

Following a corporate presentation on the activities of SMIIC, Mr. ÖVÜT briefed the delegation on latest developments and future plans of SMIIC. Current projects that SMIIC is implementing or planning to implement in the areas of capacity building for especially Least Developed Countries (LDCs) were also discussed.

For his part, Mr. Papa SECKA reiterated Gambia’s commitment to supporting the activities of SMIIC and expressed his gratitude for the hospitality exerted during their visit.
