SMIIC Halal Conference 2015 was jointly organized by the Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM), the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and Halal Industry Development Cooperation (HDC) on 14-15 December 2015 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Conference has provided a platform for SMIIC Members to discuss and exchange views and experiences in the development and implementation of halal standards.

Inauguration ceremony was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, H.E Dr. Ahmad Zahid HAMIDI and Deputy Ministers of Malaysia and representative of OIC General Secretariat.

Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT, Secretary General, delivered a keynote address in the opening ceremony and a presentation in Session 2 with the theme: Halal Initiatives under the SMIIC. Latest developments regarding the SMIIC Accreditation Committee was also presented in this session.

It was a fruitful gathering to promote SMIIC and its activities and to benefit from Malaysia’s vast experience on halal practices.  

During the Conference, Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT met Mrs. Fadilah BAHARIN, Director General of the DSM in order to strengthen the ongoing cooperation between DSM and SMIIC.
