SMIIC Secretary General and his accompanying delegation attended the 2nd International Halal Tourism Conference which was organized on 03-05 May 2016 in Konya, Turkey which is the 2016 Islamic Tourism Capital selected by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The three-day event aimed at bringing together the actors of the global travel industry to discuss ways and opportunities to capitalize on the Muslim travel market.
During the morning session, Mr. İhsan Övüt, Secretary General, delivered a keynote speech. In his address, Mr. ÖVÜT focused on the growing potential of the halal industry by underlining the gained momentum especially in the tourism sector as one of the fast emerging markets.
Mr. ÖVÜT also emphasized the important opportunities of the Halal market and the responsibilities of SMIIC in developing common standards and ensuring uniformity as the authorized body in this field.
During one of the sessions, SMIIC delegation delivered a corporate presentation on SMIIC and state of the Islamic Tourism in the OIC Member Countries along with prospects and challenges.
