Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT, Secretary General along with accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Dr. Yusuf Bin Ahmed AL-OTHAIMEEN, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on 05 December 2017 to inform H.E. of the latest developments and activities of SMIIC. H.E. Dr. Yusuf Bin Ahmed AL-OTHAIMEEN welcomed the delegation and highlighted the important role of SMIIC as a common platform to unify the efforts of OIC Member States efforts in standardization and related areas. The OIC Secretary General also congratulated Mr. Övüt for being re-elected for the new term. During the meeting, OIC Secretary General emphasized the essentiality of having consensus of member states in every work and study of SMIIC and also expressed the importance of coding standards by using the terms “OIC” and “SMIIC” together as OIC/SMIIC.

On the other hand, Mr. Övüt, informed the OIC Secretary General about the new structure of SMIIC after recent amendments to SMIIC internal documents, the recent elections of the new councils Standardization Management Council, Accreditation Council, the new composition of SMIIC Board of Directors, and the cooperation of SMIIC Member States in the technical work of SMIIC. SMIIC Secretary General thanked OIC for their important support to SMIIC and invited OIC Secretary General to relevant SMIIC activities that will take place in 2018.
