For a better overseeing of standardization activities, the SMIIC Standardization Management Council (SMC) has been established and this professional structure, composed of 9 SMIIC Member States, aims to build the future activities of the technical committees and follow-up their performance on ongoing standards projects.

The First Meeting of the SMC was held in İstanbul, Republic of Turkey on 26-27 June 2018. The meeting was chaired by H.E. Mr. Abdul Aleem Memon, Chairman of SMC, Director General of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA). During the meeting, the Council Members agreed on its Terms of Reference (ToR) and discussed about the activities of the SMIIC Technical Committees. The Council also decided to start the revision study of the SMIIC Directives taking into account the current updates of the other international practices and the conditions of the SMIIC Member States.
