SMIIC Secretary General, H.E. İhsan Övüt and his accompanying delegation participated in 5th Thailand Halal Assembly 2018 which was held on 14 - 16 December 2018 at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Center (BITEC) in Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand. The event was organized by the Halal Science Center Chulalongkorn University (HSC-CU) in collaboration with the Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT) and the Halal Standard Institute of Thailand (HSIT) under the main theme “Precision Halalization in the Bioeconomy Era.”
Mr. Övüt delivered his speech and congratulatory remarks during the opening ceremony on 14 December 2018 with the participation of H.E. Aziz Pithakkumpol, Sheikhul Islam of Thailand. The opening ceremony continued with the ribbon cutting for the celebration of the two decades of Thailand Halal Standards Exhibition.
Mr. Övüt participated in the 11th Halal Science Industry and Business (HASIB) Conference and delivered a presentation on “Halal Quality Infrastructure and OIC/SMIIC 4:2018 Halal Cosmetics - General Requirements” at the Thailand Halal Assembly 2018 on 15 December 2018.
SMIIC Secretary General also attended the 5th International Halal Standards Convention as the side event of the Thailand Halal Assembly 2018 and addressed a speech on “Role of SMIIC on the Development of Halal Standards in the Future” on 16 Dec 2018.
Mr. Övüt had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with international organizations, universities and representatives of Muslim communities from the various countries.
