1st Meeting of the Steering Committee for Implementation of OIC STI Agenda 2026

SMIIC Secretary General H.E. İhsan ÖVÜT and his accompanying delegation participated in the 1st Meeting of the Steering Committee for Implementation of OIC STI Agenda 2026 which was held on 18-19 March 2019 in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Steering Committee has been constituted following the guidelines issued by the Astana Declaration of the 1st OIC Summit on Science and Technology, (Astana, September 2017). The OIC STI Agenda 2026 outlines priorities and targets for the advancement of Science and Technology in the Muslim countries. The OIC leaders called upon COMSTECH to establish a Steering Committee, comprising the relevant OIC institutions and to prepare an implementation plan for the OIC STI Agenda.

The 1st Steering Committee meeting approved its Terms of Reference and Work Plan and Activities for Implementation of STI Agenda.

Courtesy Visit to PSQCA

SMIIC Secretary General H.E. İhsan ÖVÜT and his accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Abdul Aleem MEMON, Director General of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) on 19 March 2019 in Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Both parties had the opportunity to exchange views on the current projects of SMIIC as well as discussed future cooperation on the activities to enhance the competence of SMIIC especially in standardization activities which is being carried out by Mr. MEMON as the Chair of the SMIIC Standardization Management Council (SMC).

Director General of Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC), H.E. Muhammad SULAIMAN also joined the meeting to exchange views on the SMIIC AC related activities as PNAC is the member of the management of SMIIC AC.
