The Eighteenth Meeting of the SMIIC Board of Directors (BOD) was held in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey on 08 April 2019 and hosted by General Secretariat. The meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of H.E. Dr. Saad ALKASABI, Chairman of the SMIIC Board of Directors and attended by the representatives of the members of the SMIIC Board of Directors.
SMIIC Secretary General briefed the Board by providing information on the activities and latest developments of the General Secretariat mandated by the Board of Directors. The Secretary General submitted the progress report of the implementation and achievement of all the goals in the SMIIC Strategic Plan 2016-2020. Furthermore, the Board was briefly informed of the latest activities of the SMIIC Councils.
As the important outcomes of the meeting, the Board approved the Terms of Reference of Board of Directors and elections of the Chair (Jordan) and Vice-Chair (Iran) of SMIIC Accreditation Council (AC). Following the decision of the 17th Board of Directors meeting to assign the Chairman of the Board of Directors to come up with a proposal by consulting members on pending issues for accreditation, Dr. ALKASABI gave a presentation and shared his proposal with the Board. The proposal was discussed by the members of the Board and it was decided to convey this proposal along with the points of concerns on the draft Terms of Reference (ToR) to the consideration of the Management of the SMIIC AC for their evaluation and discussion. These issues will then be submitted to the upcoming Board of Directors meeting in order to make a final decision.
The Board reviewed SMIIC Budget Proposal for 2020 and report of the External Financial Auditor and recommended General Assembly to approve these issues.
The Board of Directors decided to hold the 19th SMIIC Board of Directors Meeting on 04 November 2019 in conjunction with the 14th General Assembly meeting.
