The Twenty Second Meeting of the SMIIC Board of Directors (BOD) was held on 01 November 2021 in Al-Madinah Al-Munawarah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and hosted by Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO). The meeting was chaired by H.E. Dr. Saad bin Othman AL-KASABI, Chairman of the SMIIC Board of Directors (BOD). The meeting was attended by representatives from 11 Members States of the Board of Directors.
As one of the most important outcomes, Board of Directors approved the membership application of Federal Republic of Nigeria which will be represented by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) as the national body, bringing the number of SMIIC Members to 43 along with 3 Observers.
During the meeting, Chairs of the SMIIC Councils/Committee presented their reports on the latest developments and activities and the elections of members for Standardization Management Council (SMC) and Management of Accreditation Council (MAC) were conducted successfully for the term 2022 – 2024 term.
Furthermore, Progress Reports of Permanent Committees of SMIIC Board of Directors were submitted to the Board of Directors and the Board reviewed and discussed the Draft Budget for 2022 as well as the appointment of the new external auditor for 2021-2023.
