Upon request of the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), OIC/SMIIC 1:2019 General Requirements for Halal and OIC/SMIIC 2:2019 Foundation Training for employees of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Institute (AQTI) was given on the 05-07 March 2024 online by SMIIC.. 22 experts attended the training.

 The training program included a 4 day training on:

- OIC SMIIC Standards in Halal Issues
- Requirements and national implementation of OIC SMIIC 1 and 2
- Case Studies
- Evaluation Test
