The 14th Meeting of the SMIIC Metrology Council (MC) was held in Hybrid format on 09 May 2024 in İstanbul, Republic of Türkiye. It was hosted by the SMIIC General Secretariat and National Metrology Institute of Türkiye (TUBİTAK UME). Following the recitation from the Holy Quran, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa ÇETINTAŞ, Chairman of the SMIIC MC and Acting Director of TUBITAK UME, welcomed the participants to the meeting, expressing his pleasure to see the SMIIC MC Members participating in the meeting. H.E. Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT, Secretary General of SMIIC, gave a welcoming speech. He mentioned the steps taken by the General Secretariat to achieve strategic goals and the latest activities of SMIIC. He also introduced the SMIIC Academy, explaining its function and how it will help with training and capacity building activities within SMIIC.
The meeting was attended by 56 representatives (26 physically and 30 online) from a total of 20 Members and Observer States. The representative of GULF Association for Metrology (GULFMET) attended as guest.
