SMIIC organized the OIC/SMIIC 9:2019 Halal Tourism Services – General Requirements- Foundation Women Experts training on 13-14 May 2024, virtually. The training aimed to give foundation knowledge regarding the requirements of the halal tourism standard, and the use and implementation of this standard in industry. 128 women experts from all over the world attended the training.
The program started with a presentation of Mrs. Sevde Özbey, the specialist from the SMIIC General Secretariat, followed by detailed training about OIC/SMIIC 9 given by Dr. Mohammed Ali Alsheikh.
The training also included 4 guest speakers:
- Barbara Ruiz-Bejarano presentation on
“Andalusi Medina Network - Heritage Tourism and the Value of Standards for Travelers”
- AbdulMaalik Tailor gave a presentation on
“Attaining Success as a Muslim Tour Guide”
- Irshad A. Cader gave a presentation on
“The Importance of Upskilling the Halal Tourism Industry Talents in Modern Times”
- Soumaya T. Hamdi presented
“New Opportunities in Halal Tourism”
The speakers presented the unique projects they are implementing, their practices as Halal Tourism experts, the results of the studies they conducted with Muslim tourists and locals, their experiences, and future project suggestions. The speeches enriched the training, providing an excellent platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge.
