The Azerbaijan Halal Business Forum (AZHAB) 2024, held on October 8-9 in Baku, brought together key stakeholders from the Halal industry, aiming to promote ethical and sustainable business practices while fostering international collaboration. The forum highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing role as a potential hub for Halal business, leveraging its cultural and historical heritage to drive innovation and regional growth.
The two-day event included a conference and an exhibition, providing a platform for entrepreneurs, government officials, scholars, and industry experts to exchange insights, showcase products, and explore opportunities in the Halal sector. The AZHAB Forum’s objective is to chart a vibrant and inclusive path for Halal businesses, positioning Azerbaijan as a key player in the global Halal landscape.
SMIIC Secretary General of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), H.E. Mr. İhsan Övüt,shared his experiences on Halal standardization during the session entitled "Halal Standardization: Issues and Challenges". He emphasized the importance of SMIIC’s Halal standards in supporting diverse sectors such as food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and tourism, which are crucial for the sustainability and expansion of the global Halal industry.
