15th SMIIC Metrology Council Meeting

The 15th Meeting of the SMIIC Metrology Council (MC) was held in a hybrid format on 10 November 2024 in İstanbul, Republic of Türkiye. It was hosted by the SMIIC General Secretariat and National Metrology Institute of Türkiye (TUBİTAK UME). Following the recitation from the Holy Quran, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa ÇETINTAŞ, Chairman of the SMIIC MC and Acting Director of TUBITAK UME, and H.E. Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT, Secretary General of SMIIC, welcomed the participants to the meeting, expressing their pleasure to see the SMIIC MC Members participating in the meeting. Additionally, the elections of the SMIIC MC Chair and Vice-Chair for the term 2025-2027 were held. The Metrology Council has elected Mr. Saeed Mohammed Almheiri, Executive Director of the Emirates Metrology Institute (MOIAT/EMI), from United Arab Emirates was elected as Chair and Mr. Abdulrahman Rashed Alaskar, Director of the Chemical Measurement Department (SASO-NMCC), from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was elected as the Vice – Chair of the Metrology Council (MC), both for the 2025- 2027 term.

The meeting was attended by 60 representatives (41 physically and 19 online) from a total of 21 Members and Observer States. The representative of GULF Association for Metrology (GULFMET) attended as guest.

2. Halal Activities in Member States
3. Latest Developments in Member States
4. SMIIC MC ILCs
5. Calibration of Measurement Microphone with Comparison and Electrostatic Actuator Methods According to IEC 61094-5 and IEC 61094-6 (UzNIM)
6. Establishment of Metrology Laboratories at AzMI of Azerbaijan (AzMI)
7. GSO/GULFMET Current Activities
8. Working Group on Medical Metrology (WGMM) Activities
9. SMIIC MC R&D Project Program
10. Election of the SMIIC MC Chair and Vice-chair for 2025-2027 Term.

Presentations and speeches regarding the latest developments and Halal activities in Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan were given by their representatives.
