Capacity-Building Program on SMIIC Standards for the Agence Djiboutienne de Normalisation et de Qualité (ADN)

The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) co-organized a four-day capacity-building program for the Agence Djiboutienne de Normalisation et de Qualité (ADN) from October 21 to 24, 2024, in Djibouti, Republic of Djibouti. This training program aligns with the SMIIC’s 2021–2030 strategic plan, which prioritizes support for Least Developed Countries (LDCs) in establishing and strengthening quality infrastructure. A total of 32 participants from ADN and relevant sectors took part in this session.

Conducted entirely in French, the program aimed to build the expertise and knowledge of ADN personnel on SMIIC standards, processes, and best practices. The training covered the following essential topics:

  • Introduction to SMIIC and its activities
  • SMIIC Directives and Procedures for Technical Committee Work
  • OIC/SMIIC 1:2019: General Requirements for Halal Foods
  • OIC/SMIIC 2:2019: Requirements for Bodies Providing Halal Certification
  • Evaluation tests

This capacity-building program was productive and provided ADN participants with valuable knowledge on SMIIC's standards and processes, which are crucial for enhancing Djibouti’s quality infrastructure especially in the Halal fields. Our commitment to supporting our members remains unwavering, and we will continue to provide assistance wherever needed.
