Uzbek Agency For Technical Regulation Under The Cabinet Of Ministers Of The Republic Of Uzbekistan (UZSTANDARD)
At different points in time, standardization work was carried out by a number of different organizations. On 18 April 1923, according to the Decree issued by the Council of the People's Commissariat of the Turkestan Republic, the "Measures and Weights Regulation" was adopted and the Turkestan Bureau for Measures and Weights at the Committee for the Internal Trade Regulation was set up. The Verification Chamber for Measures and Weights operating all over the Turkestan Republic was set up in the city of Tashkent. In 1924, the Verification Chamber for Measures and Weights was renamed the Central Asian Chamber for Measures and Weights. In March 1930, the Committee for Standardization under the Council of the People's Commissariat of the Uzbek SSR was formed, and in 1931 it was united with the Chamber for Measures and Weights.

In 1992, due to the independence by the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek State Centre for Standardization, Metrology and Certification under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (UZGOSTANDART) was formed. At the same time, the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted the Law "On standardization", which defined the further development of the standardization system in the country.

In accordance with the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 3 October 2002, UZGOSTANDART was reorganized into the Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of Uzbekistan (UZSTANDARD).

"UZSTANDARD" agency as a national body for standardization, metrology and certification provides means for implementing national policy in the fields of standardization, metrology and conformity assessment, and carries out state supervision, as well as represents the country's interests within international and regional organizations for standardization.
