Standardization Management Council (SMC) is the organ assigned the task of development of OIC/SMIIC standards in cooperation with Member States.
SMC coordinates and oversees the performance of the Technical Committees.
SMC consists of a chair and 9 Member States appointed or elected by the Board of Directors, on the basis of an equitable geographic distribution, in accordance with the Rules of Procedure. The chair of SMC, which is one of the Vice-Chairmen of Board of Directors, is assigned by the Board of Directors. The secretary of SMC is appointed by Secretary General among the General Secretariat staff.
The method and principles of the administration of SMC is defined in Rules of Procedure. It operates according to a Terms of Reference document which is approved by the Board of Directors.
SMC performs standardization activities in the fields of product and service sector with special emphasis on Member States’ requirements and any other activity determined by the Board of Directors.
SMC constitutes the Technical Committees as it might deem necessary in line with their work programs and fields of responsibility.
SMC prepares annual work plan in line with the SMIIC Strategic Plan and reports the progress to the Board of Directors.
As per the BOD Resolution 20/2021, the following Member States are elected as the Members of the members of SMIIC Standardization Management Council for the 2022-2024 term:

- Arab Republic of EGYPT
- Hashemite Kingdom of JORDAN
- MALAYSIA
- Islamic Republic of PAKISTAN (Chair)
- Kingdom of SAUDI ARABIA
- Republic of TUNISIA
- Republic of TURKEY
- United Arab EMIRATES
Following the election of the vice-chairs of SMIIC Board of Directors for the term 2022-2024 during the 23rd Meeting of the BOD held on 19 March 2022 in Riyadh – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Islamic Republic of Pakistan as one of the elected vice chairs, is assigned as the Chair of the Standardization Management Council (SMC) for the same term.
