1st OIC Halal Food Middle East –International Food and Technology Exhibition
The SMIIC General Secretariat was an exhibitor at the 1st OIC Halal Food Middle East –International Food and Technology Exhibition held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates on the 10 - 12 December 2012 co-organized by the Islamic Centre for Development and Trade (ICDT) and Expocentre Sharjah.
The expo was opened by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah and His Excellency Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoğlu, the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation(OIC).
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah and His Excellency Prof. Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu, the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) visited the SMIIC stand, the Secretary General Mr. Haluk Dağ explained the aims, establishment and current activities of SMIIC including the Technical Committees which the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) is an active member of.
The expo attracted exhibitors and participants from all over the world. Halal certification agencies, halal development bodies, standardization bodies, various export-import agencies are some of the exhibitors who participated in the expo. SMIIC activities were introduced. The harmonization of standards, specifically halal food standards, Halal cosmetics issues and accreditation were areas that attracted many questions.
