Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT, Secretary General and his accompanying delegation attended the general meeting on Cooperation between the Secretariats of the United Nations (UN) and the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and their specialized organizations and agencies which took place in Geneva on 11-13 May 2016.

The meeting has provided an important opportunity for strengthening the cooperation dialogues between the UN and OIC institutions by enhancing their partnership and building on their comparative advantages in the areas of common interest, including peace and security, social, economic and cultural issues, and humanitarian affairs.

During the meeting, the implementation of the Matrix adopted by the previous general cooperation meeting was reviewed and the progress made towards implementation of the joint activities and exchanged views was monitored.

The Matrix is updated for the identified joint activities to be conducted in the next biennium and SMIIC with its partners; FAO, UNIDO and ITC will carry out joint activities for increasing market access to OIC products in accordance with the updated matrix.
