The Thirteenth Meeting of the SMIIC Board of Directors (BOD) was held in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey on 16 December 2016. SMIIC General Secretariat hosted the meeting. Mr. Sebahittin KORKMAZ, Chairman of BOD of SMIIC welcomed the participants to the Meeting and made the opening address.
The Board was attended by the representatives of the following Member States who have membership in the SMIIC Board of Directors:
- Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
- People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria
- Republic of Cameroon
- Arab Republic of Egypt
- Republic of Guinea
- Islamic Republic of Iran
- Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
- Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
- Islamic Republic of Pakistan
- Republic of Tunisia
- Republic of Turkey
- United Arab Emirates
- Libya
During the meeting, membership applications of Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Djibouti, and Republic of Iraq as members and Kingdom of Thailand as observer were approved and the number of SMIIC Member States has reached to 33 along with 3 Observers.
A task force group was established to study and finalize the SMIIC Internal Documents. Furthermore, Implementation and Major Strategic Initiatives documents of SMIIC Strategic Plan 2016-2020 that cover the period of two years were discussed by the Board members.
