The 13th Meeting of the SMIIC Metrology Council (MC) was held in Hybrid format during 08-09 October 2023 in İstanbul, Republic of Türkiye. It was hosted by the SMIIC General Secretariat and National Metrology Institute of Türkiye (TUBİTAK UME). Following the recitation from the Holy Quran, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa ÇETINTAŞ, Chairman of the SMIIC MC and Acting Director of TUBITAK UME, welcomed the participants to the meeting, expressing his pleasure to see the SMIIC MC Members participating in the meeting. H.E. Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT, Secretary General of SMIIC, gave a welcoming speech. He mentioned the steps taken by the General Secretariat to achieve its strategic goals and the latest activities of SMIIC.

Furthermore, The Metrology Council decide s to establish a Task Force group to prepare the new Working Plan of the SMIIC Metrology Council. The Task Force group experts will be assigned from: Cameroon, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan.

The meeting was attended by 59 representatives (32physically and 27 online) from a total of 23 Members and Observer States. The representative of GULF Association for Metrology (GULFMET) attended as guest.

Presentations and speeches regarding the latest developments and Halal activities in Indonesia, Nigeria, Kyrgyz Republic, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan were given by their representatives.
