Training on the OIC/SMIIC 24:2020 General Requirements for Food Additives and Other Added Chemicals to Halal Food wa given in Arabic for experts from Arabic Speaking Member States and was held on the 09-10 December 2024.
The 41 experts attended from 11 countries attended the training,
OIC/SMIIC 24:2020 standard sets the requirements and conditions needed for food additives and any other added chemicals (processing aids, flavourings, added nutrients, enzymes) used during food production to ensure that the final product is halal and safe to consume in OIC countries and all over the world.
OIC/SMIIC 24:2020 standard defines the halal status of food additives in foodstuffs intended for human consumption. It sets a list of doubtful and non-halal food additives and the needed action for each of them.
The training gave the foundation knowledge regarding the content and implementation of the standard. The training included an exam and certificates of successfull completion is given to participants who passed the necessary assessment
