A three-day virtual foundation training program on the OIC SMIIC 1:2019 – General Requirements for Halal Food was successfully held from 28 to 30 April 2025. Specifically designed for the private sector, the training aimed to strengthen the understanding and implementation of halal standards in food production and services.
The course gathered 15 participants from both OIC and non-OIC countries, including Australia, Bosnia, Italy, Morocco, the Netherlands, Palestine, the Philippines, Taiwan, Turkey, UAE, and Uzbekistan.
Delivered by Dr. Mohammed Ali Alsheikh, a specialist from the SMIIC General Secretariat, the training covered:
- An introduction to the activities and role of SMIIC (Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries),
- OIC SMIIC Standards related to halal issues,
- Detailed requirements and implementation of the OIC SMIIC 1:2019 standard.
The program concluded with an evaluation test to assess the participants' grasp of the topics presented.
