The 29th Meeting of the SMIIC Board of Directors was successfully held on 20–21 July 2025 in Al Madinah Al Munawwarah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting brought together Board Members from across the OIC region to discuss key organizational matters. During the meeting, Saudi Arabia was elected as Chairman of the Board for the 2025–2027 term, with Cameroon (Strategy), Türkiye (Finance), and the UAE (Standardization) serving as Vice-Chairman. The Board also approved the new composition of its permanent committees (BOD/FC, BOD/FC, BOD/GOV, BOD/CRM) and reviewed progress reports related to strategic initiatives, capacity building, and technical developments.

Among the highlights, the Board welcomed updates on the implementation of the Strategic Plan 2021–2030, activities of SMIIC Councils, and recent collaborations such as the launch of the Digital Certificates system and partnership with WIPO. The Annual Report 2024 were also approved and External Auditor Report for the 2024 was reviewed and recommended to General Assembly for approval. The Board expressed appreciation to SASO for its excellent organization and warm hospitality in hosting the meeting.
