SMIIC Annual Meetings 2025 were held in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, from November 11-13, 2025. This year's meetings included a series of high-level discussions and key decisions aimed at advancing SMIIC's strategic objectives. Below is a list of the specific meetings and their schedules:

The General Assembly acknowledged the advancements made under the SMIIC Strategic Plan 2021–2030 and welcomed the comprehensive updates presented by the Standardization, Metrology, and Accreditation Councils. These reports highlighted key achievements in technical committee work, capacity-building programs, and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening the quality infrastructure across the OIC region.
Financial matters also received thorough consideration. The GA approved the audited financial statements for 2024, as well as the SMIIC Budget for 2026. Member States were encouraged to fulfill their mandatory contributions in a timely manner to ensure healthy financial governance and continued institutional growth.
A significant outcome of the meetings was the approval of the draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SMIIC and the Islamic Forum for Halal Accreditation Bodies (IFHAB), marking another step toward deepening collaboration in the global halal accreditation ecosystem. The GA also formally welcomed the Syrian Arab Republic, represented by SASMO, as the newest SMIIC Member.
H.E. Dr. Saad ALKASABI, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SMIIC, provided leadership and guidance in advancing the mission and strategic objectives of SMIIC.
H.E. Ambassador Hissein BRAHIM TAHA, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), conveyed a message on SMIIC's pivotal role in strengthening the OIC quality infrastructure system, delivered by Mr. Jakhongir KHASANOV, Professional Officer.
H.E. Ambassador Berik ARYN, Director-General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), delivered an address highlighting the shared goals of IOFS and SMIIC in enhancing food safety, halal integrity, and sustainable food systems.
Ms. Jaymi STEPHENS, Head of Membership at ISO, delivered the message of H.E. Mr. Sergio MUJICA, Secretary-General of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), reaffirming ISO's continued cooperation and support to SMIIC in advancing international standardization.
H.E. Eng. Nawaf Ibrahim AL-MANA, President of the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), delivered valuable remarks on strengthening cooperation between SMIIC and GSO in harmonizing standards and conformity assessment practices.
Mr. David TOMILSON, Associate Technical Expert, Competitiveness, Quality and Compliance from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), highlighted the importance of industrial development and quality infrastructure in achieving sustainable economic growth.
H.E. Dr. Adel AL-KEAID, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Islamic Forum for Halal Accreditation Bodies (IFHAB), delivered an address on enhancing the partnership between IFHAB and SMIIC toward a unified and credible global halal accreditation framework.
H.E. Mr. Akmal JUMANAZAROV, Director of the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation, contributed to promoting harmonization of standards and technical regulations in the OIC region.
The General Assembly decided that the 21st SMIIC General Assembly will be held in November 2026 in Kazan, Russian Federation. The meetings concluded with appreciation extended to the Republic of Uzbekistan for its warm hospitality and excellent arrangements, which contributed greatly to the success of the 20th General Assembly. Member States expressed their continued commitment to enhancing harmonization, strengthening technical capacity, and supporting SMIIC’s role as a key driver of quality infrastructure development across the Islamic world.
