SMIIC Delivers Private-Sector Training on OIC/SMIIC 24:2020 Halal Food Additives Standard

SMIIC conducted the OIC/SMIIC 24:2020 – General Requirements for Food Additives and Other Added Chemicals to Halal Food training on 15–16 December 2025, delivered virtually and targeted at private-sector stakeholders.

A total of 41 participants attended the training, representing companies and institutions from Türkiye, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Netherlands, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United States of America, Ukraine, Palestine, Denmark, and Romania. The training aimed to provide participants with a solid understanding of the technical and regulatory requirements of OIC/SMIIC 24:2020, with a particular focus on practical application within the private sector.


The training was covered the following key topics:

  • Requirements for food additives and other added chemicals
  • Specific requirements for flavorings
  • Labeling requirements
  • Evaluation test

This training forms part of SMIIC’s ongoing capacity-building activities to enhance compliance with halal standards and to support the private sector in the correct implementation of OIC/SMIIC halal requirements.
