Tunis, 13 April 2026 – In a milestone for technical diplomacy, SMIIC Secretary General Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT was received in an official audience by H.E. Ms. Fatma Thabet Chiboub, the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy of Tunisia. The meeting was also attended by INNORPI Director General Mr. Nafâa Boutiti.

During the meeting, Mr. İhsan ÖVÜT briefed the Minister on SMIIC’s progress in harmonizing standards to protect consumers and boost industrial competitiveness. H.E. Ms. Fatma Thabet Chiboub reaffirmed Tunisia's commitment to the SMIIC framework, highlighting that common standards are a vital pillar for industrial modernization and expanding the reach of Tunisian exports in international markets.
