In line with its mandate to support the private sector and its ongoing efforts to enhance the capacity of professionals engaged in halal certification, the General Secretariat of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) organized a virtual training programme entitled “OIC/SMIIC 2:2019 – Conformity Assessment: Requirements for Bodies Providing Halal Certification” on 20–22 April 2026.
The programme brought together 27 experts, auditors, and representatives of halal certification bodies, along with other relevant stakeholders from a diverse range of countries, Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Ireland, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Republic of Tatarstan, Taiwan, Thailand, and the Republic of Türkiye. The training provided a platform for participants to enhance their knowledge and competencies in the implementation of halal certification requirements in accordance with the OIC/SMIIC Halal Standards framework.
This programme constitutes part of SMIIC’s continued efforts to strengthen halal quality infrastructure systems and to support private sector stakeholders in establishing robust, credible, and globally recognized halal certification practices.
