SMIIC Strengthens Halal Supply Chain Capacity through Virtual Training Programme

The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) successfully organized a virtual training programme on “OIC/SMIIC 17:2020 – Halal Supply Chain Management System” from 4 to 7 May 2026, with the participation of representatives from Belgium, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Korea, and Tunisia. The training is delivered by Dr. Harlina Suzana JAAFAR (Faculty of Technology and Supply Chain Management), and Chairperson of SMIIC – TC10- Halal Supply Chain committee.

The training programme aimed to enhance awareness and technical knowledge regarding the implementation of Halal Supply Chain Management Systems in accordance with OIC/SMIIC 17:2020. The sessions covered key principles and best practices related to transportation, warehousing, and retailing, and maintaining the integrity of the Halal supply chain.

Throughout the four-day programme, sessions included comprehensive presentations and practical sessions addressing the requirements of OIC/SMIIC 17:2020 and highlighting its role in strengthening Halal quality infrastructure and facilitating international Halal trade.

The programme reflects SMIIC’s continuous efforts to support capacity building and promote the effective implementation of OIC/SMIIC standards among stakeholders from both the public and private sectors worldwide.
