SMIIC Conducts Virtual Training Course on OIC/SMIIC 24:2020 for private sectors

The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) successfully organized and conducted a virtual training course on “OIC/SMIIC 24:2020 – General Requirements for Food Additives and Other Added Chemicals to Halal Food” on 13–14 May 2026, with the participation of experts from Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Russia.
The training programme aimed to enhance participants’ technical knowledge and awareness regarding the requirements and implementation of OIC/SMIIC 24:2020. The standard sets out the requirements and conditions for food additives and other added chemicals, including processing aids, flavourings, added nutrients, and enzymes used during food production, to ensure that the final products are halal and safe for consumption in OIC countries and worldwide.
Throughout the training, participants gained foundational knowledge on the content, application, and implementation of the standard through theoretical and practical sessions delivered by Dr. Mohammed Ali Alsheikh Wace, Specialist and Technical Assistant, from the SMIIC General Secretariat.
