SMIIC MC Training on NDT Measuring Devices Used in Ultrasonic Nondestructive Testing and Their Calibration

The 40th SMIIC MC Training within the SMIIC MC Work Plan 2024 – 2026 V3 was the The Training on Training on NDT Measuring Devices Used in Ultrasonic Nondestructive Testing and Their Calibration  on the 16 July 2026 virtually, technically hosted by SMIIC General Secretariat. 21 experts participated in the training.

The training was hosted by NMI:  Uzbek Natioal Metrology Institute  (UZNIM) 

General Description: This training provides a comprehensive overview of ultrasonic NDT measuring devices based on the UzNIM practical experience, focusing on calibration methodology, international standards (EN 12668, ISO 22232), measurement uncertainty evaluation per GUM, and practical calibration procedures for ultrasonic flaw detectors and thickness gauges.

Objective, expected outcome: To explain the principles of ultrasonic nondestructive testing and types of UT measuring devices. To present calibration methodology for ultrasonic flaw detectors and thickness gauges per EN 12668-1 and ISO 22232-1. To demonstrate measurement uncertainty evaluation using the GUM framework and share UzNIM practical experience in UT equipment calibration.
