SMIIC Strengthens Uganda’s Halal Quality Infrastructure through Capacity Building on SMIIC Directives

As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening Halal Quality Infrastructure (HQI) across OIC Member States, the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) successfully organized a specialized virtual training programme on SMIIC Directives – Part 1: Procedures for the Technical Work and Part 2: Rules for the Structure and Drafting of OIC/SMIIC Documents for the staff of the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) on 03 August 2026.

The training was delivered within the framework of the "Strengthening Uganda’s National Halal Quality Infrastructure" initiative, which aims to enhance Uganda's national capacities in the development, adoption, and implementation of harmonized OIC/SMIIC Halal standards and conformity assessment systems.

The programme brought together technical experts and standards professionals from UNBS who are actively involved in standardization activities and the development of Uganda's Halal Quality Infrastructure.

The training forms part of a broader technical assistance programme being implemented by SMIIC to support Uganda in establishing a robust and internationally recognized Halal Quality Infrastructure.

SMIIC remains committed to supporting its Member States through targeted capacity-building programmes and technical cooperation initiatives that contribute to sustainable economic development and strengthen the global Halal ecosystem.
