On 4 August 2026, OIC/SMIIC officially launched the first mentorship training sessions under SMIIC 1+1 Project, marking the beginning of a new capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening technical cooperation and knowledge exchange among OIC Member States.

The launch featured two parallel mentorship programmes. The first session, "Halal Accreditation & Peer-Evaluation Orientation," was delivered by an expert from Indonesia's National Standardization Agency (BSN) and brought together more than 50 participants from across the OIC network. Running concurrently on 4–5 August 2026, the second mentorship session, "Measurement Uncertainty for DNA Analysis," is conducted by TÜBİTAK UME (Türkiye) for experts from BSN Indonesia, providing specialized training on measurement uncertainty in molecular analysis.

These inaugural activities reflect the collaborative spirit of Project 1+1 and reaffirm OIC/SMIIC's commitment to enhancing technical competence, fostering institutional partnerships, and promoting the exchange of expertise among Member States.
