As part of the implementation of the SMIIC–UNBS Framework for Strengthening Uganda’s Halal Quality Infrastructure, under Pillar One: Standardization, the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) successfully organized a virtual Workshop on the SMIIC Information System (SMIIC IS) for UNBS staff on 18 August 2026,

The workshop introduced UNBS staff to the SMIIC Information System (SMIIC IS) and aimed to enhance their technical understanding and practical skills in using SMIIC’s digital infrastructure, particularly in relation to standards development and the work of SMIIC Technical Committees.

Through this workshop, SMIIC reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) in strengthening Uganda’s Halal Quality Infrastructure. SMIIC looks forward to continuing its capacity-building initiatives, promoting the active participation of UNBS experts in the development of OIC/SMIIC standards, and enhancing collaboration through the effective use of SMIIC’s digital tools and platforms.
