Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO)
The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO) is a governmental organization established in 1995 to replace its predecessor that was founded in 1972, and is headed by a Board of Directors 16 comprising members from the public and private sectors.

JSMO is the national standards body in Jordan and also performs market surveillance to verify conformity of imported products and products placed on the market with mandatory technical regulations. Furthermore, JSMO supervises the national system for metrology in Jordan aiming at maintaining the national measurement standards and assuring traceability to SI Units, in cooperation with the Jordan National Metrology Institute (JNMI).

JSMO is also responsible for Legal Metrology in Jordan in order to control measuring instruments used for the public. The Jordanian Quality Mark is also granted for national products, in addition to voluntary product certification and Global Gap certification for exported fresh fruits and vegetables. JSMO is an important source of information on standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment systems and their documents, through its membership in international and regional organizations, and its relation with other national standards bodies e.g. ISO, IEC, Codex Alimentarius, SMIIC, OIML, CEN, CENELEC, AIDMO, ASTM, BS, DIN, etc. JSMO manages the TBT Enquiry Point and provide information services to economic operators. JSMO also hosts the accreditation services to accredit testing, calibration and medical laboratories, which is directly reporting to the Minister of Industry and Trade and enjoys administrative and financial independence.
